Changing the Conversation: Regional Assessments
Healthcare Challenges and Opportunities [PDF]

In 2007, the Danville Regional Foundation (DRF) retained MDC, Inc. of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to develop three regional assessments on community health needs, workforce development and related educational challenges, and community and economic development. The first of these assessments, Healthcare Challenges and Opportunities, has been released on the DRF website [PDF].

In the assessment, health researchers from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) identify key issues, performance gaps, and trends. The report includes data-based fact sheets on health issues of the region and recommendations. ETSU used multiple methods to engage a broad range of participants from Danville, Pittsylvania, and Caswell counties.

DRF shares the assessment in the interest of supporting a better informed public discussion about how to use limited resources to transform the Region and create a better future for the Region.
