Danville Regional Foundation Honors James M. Motley;
Elects New Board of Directors and Appoints New Advisory Members

Danville, VA (May 12, 2010) The Danville Regional Foundation (DRF) Board of Directors held its annual meeting Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. Chair Carolyn Evans of Danville presented James A. Motley of Danville an engraved silver bowl to recognize his dedication and exemplary service to the board and community. Wayne Wilson of Chatham was appointed to a three-year term as a new Director. Rachael A. Sanford of Danville and Christopher R. Eastwood of Ringgold were appointed as new advisory members. Everlena Ross of Dry Fork, Greg Hairston, a native of Cascade who currently lives in Danville, and Charles Majors of Danville were reelected as members of the Board of Directors. Gretchen Clark of Gretna and Teresa Petty of Pittsylvania County were reelected as advisory members.

"Our board is a diverse group of Danville, Pittsylvania County and Caswell County citizens who willingly share their leadership, energy, experience, expertise and dedication to building a brighter future for the Dan River Region," said Evans, the Chair of the DRF Board of Directors who has worked for City of Danville since 1986 and is currently the director of customer service for Danville Utilities. "We are most appreciative of Jim Motley's contributions to our board and community, and excited to welcome Wayne, Rachael and Chris as newcomers to the board of directors and advisory committee."

Motley, a Danville native and retired CEO of American National Bank, served on the board since 2005 and has completed his term.

Wilson owns Wayne Wilson & Company - an executive coaching and business advisory consultancy for small to mid-market companies in transition - and entrepreneur behind www.southernvirginia.com, a social networking site for business professionals. Wilson served as a DRF Advisory Member in 2009.

Sanford is an attorney with Clement & Wheatley of Danville, where she practices domestic relations law and general civil litigation. Prior to joining Clement & Wheatley, she served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Danville.

A Pittsylvania County native, Eastwood is a financial advisor and certified Accredited Asset Management Specialist with Edward Jones investment firm in Danville, where he has worked for 12 years. He focuses on helping clients with retirement and estate planning. Previously, he was employed with Collie Equipment Company.

The Board of Directors of the Danville Regional Foundation ensures that the Foundation operates in the best interests and mission of the Foundation. The advisory members provide insights from the perspective of community citizens, as well as provide expertise and knowledge

to a variety of standing or ad hoc committees to make sure the Foundation continues to achieve its objectives.

The Danville Regional Foundation makes long-term investments to foster education, economic development, as well as the health and well-being of residents in the City of Danville, Pittsylvania and Caswell Counties. Since its establishment in July 2005, DRF has invested more than $40 million through 40 grants supporting economic development, education, community wellness and civic capacity to build a brighter future for citizens.
