Danville Regional Foundation Announces Summer Internships
Danville, VA - Supporting its mission to enhance economic development and education, the Danville Regional Foundation (DRF) has selected eight well-educated young leaders to participate in a 10-week, full-time paid summer internship program. There were 53 applicants from 34 institutions up and down the East Coast from Long Island, NY to Miami, FL. Six interns are residents within the region and two are from New Jersey and Maryland.

This is the second summer DRF has provided its internship program, allowing students from various backgrounds the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in philanthropy, economic development, education, health and wellness, and community engagement. Interns will also work with regional non-profit organizations throughout the community to be part of creating change.
"The Danville Regional Foundation wants our next generation of leaders to see this area as a place of opportunity," said Wendi Everson, DRF Program Officer. "We want to demonstrate to young people that there are challenging and rewarding employment opportunities in this area and aid in recruiting and retaining young professionals to the region."
DRF makes long-term investments to foster education, economic development, as well as health and well-being of residents in the City of Danville, Pittsylvania and Caswell Counties. Since its establishment in July 2005, DRF has invested more than $40 million into the community through over 40 grants to help position the Dan River Region as a thriving area with great opportunities to retain present, and attract future, residents.
