REGIONAL FOUNDATION BEGINS ECONOMIC ASSESSMENT
Outcome Will Identify Economic Opportunities
DANVILLE, VA - (September 24, 2007) - The Danville Regional Foundation has started on the second of three assessments, this one on economic and community development.
The assessment will determine the needs, opportunity and capacity for economic and community development in the Danville region. “The goal is to understand and build the base of the region so we can expand opportunities for economic growth for everyone in the region," said Karl Stauber, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation.
"The start of the process is listening to a variety of people in Danville, Pittsylvania and Caswell counties," said Stauber. "We need to have a fresh look at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to our economy."After analyzing the information, the Foundation will develop strategies designed to create more economic opportunity in the region.
The assessment is expected to take approximately 90 days. The Foundation's first assessment was on the health of the region. The third assessment is on education and workforce development.
The purpose of the Danville Regional Foundation is the development, promotion and support of activities and programs and organizations that improve the health, education and well-being of the Danville region. In its two years, the Regional Foundation has announced grants of approximately $17.5 million to five not-for-profit organizations and government agencies in Danville, Pittsylvania and Caswell Counties.
The Danville Regional Foundation seeks to develop, promote and support activities that improve the health, education and wellbeing of the residents of the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County, VA and Caswell County, NC. The Foundation has awarded approximately $19.5 million to seven non-profit organizations or government agencies since its founding in 2005.
