DANVILLE REGIONAL FOUNDATION NAMES CEO
Karl Stauber is North Carolina Native
DANVILLE, VA - (June 1, 2007) - Karl N. Stauber, a North Carolina native, has been named President/CEO of the Danville Regional Foundation.
Stauber, 56, is a native of Statesville, North Carolina and a graduate of the University of North Carolina. He will join the Danville Regional Foundation August 1 from the Northwest Area Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota.
My wife and I are excited to be moving to the Danville area," Stauber said. "We believe the Regional Foundation has a wonderful opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of every person in the region." He added that he has relatives throughout North Carolina and his wife, Hollis, is from Lynchburg, where she still has family.
The Northwest Area Foundation has assets of approximately $500 million. Its primary goal is to reduce poverty in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. He joined the Foundation as Vice President of Programs in 1986.
In 1993 he was appointed Deputy Undersecretary of Agriculture and the next year was promoted to Undersecretary of Agriculture. He was the chief policy strategist for rural and small community development in his tenure with the government.
He resigned to return to the Foundation in 1996 as President & CEO. Since then, he has reorganized the staff to focus on outcomes and administer three major programs: building partnerships with communities, a rural leadership effort for communities of 5,000 or less and providing products and services to community leaders interested in local community development.

The Danville Regional Foundation seeks to develop, promote and support activities, programs and organizations that improve the health, welfare and education of the residents of Danville, Pittsylvania and Caswell Counties. Within the last year, the Regional Foundation has announced grants totaling approximately $17.5 million to five not-for-profit organizations or government agencies in the three jurisdictions.
The Danville Regional Foundation seeks to develop, promote and support activities that improve the health, education and wellbeing of the residents of the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County, VA and Caswell County, NC. The Foundation has awarded approximately $19.5 million to seven non-profit organizations or government agencies since its founding in 2005.
