Summer Internship: Deadline March 15th

Summer interns will work 10 weeks beginning May 25, 2010 and ending July 31, 2010. Students will work full-time (40 hours per week).

Fall Internship: Deadline June 30th

The Fall Intern program begins in August and ends in December. Students will work full-time or part-time for 17 weeks. Intern work schedules will be determined on an individual basis.

Spring Internship: Deadline March 15

The Spring Intern program begins in January and ends in May. Students will work full-time or part-time for 17 weeks. Intern work schedules will be determined on an individual basis.

Intern Requirements

Interns must be currently enrolled in an associate, bachelor, or master's level program at a known academic institution. Recent graduates are also welcome to apply. Applicants must have completed at least one year of post secondary education. Dual Enrollment may not be counted toward the one year enrollment period. Project assignments will cover a wide range of areas of study and will entail work in marketing, economics, research, education, journalism, history, technology, business, and urban and community development. All disciplines are welcome to apply. Strong research and written skills are preferred.

Selection

First priority will be given to applicants that live within the service area of Danville, Pittsylvania County, or Caswell County, although they could be enrolled at colleges and universities anywhere. It is anticipated that one-third of the candidates selected will reside outside of the region. Last year's program participants were residents of Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, and China. A committee made of community members will select interns based on overall qualifications and experiences.

Application Timeline

Applications will be accepted at any time prior to the respective application dates stated previously. Applications cannot be submitted on-line. Please download the application and mail all documents at one time. All materials must be postmarked by the respective deadline. Acceptance announcements will be made one month after the application deadline.
