| Caswell Family Medical Center | Facility Expansion and Renovation | $246,192 - Challenge Grant | Caswell Family Medical Center (CFMC) plans an expansion and renovation of its medical facility in Yanceyville. The expansion will provide space for specialty services and additional diagnostic equipment and expand the trauma room to accommodate emergent patients. The Danville Regional Foundation will provide a challenge grant in the amount of $246,192 contingent upon CFMC's ability to secure funding of $369,288 for the remaining 60% of the project costs. CFMC has three years in which to raise the needed funds. The project will provide better access to health care for the citizens of Caswell County. |

| Danville Family YMCA | New Facility | $8,100,000 - Challenge Grant | Danville Regional Foundation will provide a challenge grant in the amount of $8,100,000, which is 60% of the cost of constructing a new facility for the Danville Family YMCA, provided the YMCA raises $5,400,000 (40%) within a two year period. The facility will expand health, wellness, and recreational opportunities for the region. |
| Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce Foundation | Live Healthy DPC | $12,525 | A grant in the amount of $12,525 was awarded to the Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce for implementation of Leadership Southside XV's project, Live Healthy DPC. The 100-day challenge will encourage healthy lifestyles in the region by promoting healthy nutrition and physical activity. This is an effort to reduce the prevalence of chronic conditions and ensure a healthier region which may increase employee productivity, reduce absenteeism, and decrease insurance premiums for employers. Impact and outcomes will be measured in four ways: level of increase in physical activity, level of fruit and vegetable consumption as compared to start of challenge, increase in total minutes of physical activity, and total weight loss. It is anticipated that the level of activity will increase in participating individuals by 45%. |
| Institute for Advanced Learning and Research Foundation | After School Collaborative | $88,709 | The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research Foundation has received a planning grant of $88,709 for the No-bell Prize project. This project will bring together regional educators and after-school providers in the assessment of informal educational opportunities available to children, undertake a best-practices overview of successful programs throughout the country, and develop a strategic plan to implement a successful collaboration in this region that provides world-class learning opportunities for children in the region outside of the traditional school day. |
| Martinsville-Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness | Obesity Reduction Program in Danville, Pittsylvania and Caswell | $541,880 | The Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness received a grant in the amount of $541,880 over 18 months for local health programming to prevent and/or reduce obesity in the region by promoting active and healthy lifestyles and encouraging the reduction of health risk behaviors leading to excess weight. The initiative will be led by a local community coalition, conducted in collaboration with regional partners and will include Healthy Lifestyle Education, Active Living programs, and advocacy efforts intended to increase public awareness and improve environmental and educational policies designed to support healthy behaviors. |
| Piedmont Access to Health Services (PATHS) | Community Dental Clinic at Danville Community College | $358,000 | Piedmont Access to Health Services, in conjunction with Danville Community College (DCC) and the Danville Dental Society, will open a Community Dental Clinic in the DCC Health Sciences Building. A grant from the Danville Regional Foundation in the amount of $358,000 will fund start-up costs and infrastructure development. The facility will address a gap in capacity for those needing dental care and provide a sliding fee schedule for those who qualify. The Clinic will provide training opportunities for dental hygiene and dental students and make access to dental care easier for the low-income, uninsured population. |
| United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County | Facility Purchase and Renovation | $180,000 - Challenge Grant | United Way will be relocating to the warehouse district in Danville. Danville Regional Foundation will provide a challenge grant in the amount of $180,000 to assist with the cost of the building purchase and renovation. The grant is contingent upon United Way securing the remaining 60% or $270,000 of the project. United Way has 12 months in which to raise the required funding. The relocation will aid efforts to revitalize the warehouse district and increase United Way's capacity to serve the region. |
| Virginia Health Care Foundation | Project Connect - Maximizing FAMIS Enrollments | $485,800 | Over a three year period, the Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF) will maximize the number of children with health insurance in Danville and Pittsylvania County by enrolling them in FAMIS, Virginia's health insurance program. The enrollment initiative, Project Connect, has been very successful throughout Virginia. VHCF anticipates enrolling 2,400 additional children in the Danville-Pittsylvania County area. The estimated economic value is $3.5 million per year ($1,500 per child per year). The initiative will assist in the elimination of gaps in access to health care between groups of people with varying economic status. |
| Virginia Legal Aid Society, Inc. | Financial Freedom Program | $151,956 | Over a two year period, the Virginia Legal Aid Society (VLAS) will provide a financial education and savings incentive program that will help low-income consumers in the City of Danville and the counties of Pittsylvania and Caswell. The program will assist participants in making good financial decisions, resolving consumer problems, and building savings so as to achieve economic self-sufficiency and break the cycle of poverty. The program will collaborate with the BEST Coalition and other organizations, such as consumer credit counseling agencies, local banks, local churches, and financial literacy coalitions. |
